Ecosystem Carbon Modeling

Spacer circles

To assess the climate impacts of land use, we model the response of ecosystem carbon to landscape change. By incorporating multiple land use sectors and natural disturbances, our modelling provides a comprehensive perspective of ecosystem carbon dynamics that can help prioritize management issues. To test potential solutions, simulations can assess a range of management strategies including afforestation, restoration, protection, conservation agriculture and densification.

ALCES was part of a suite of computer models used in international case studies assessing the impact of land based mitigation technologies during the EU funded project LANDMARC (Land Use Based Mitigation for Resilient Climate Pathways).
